Two plates: one on the side of the outdoor unit, one on the indoor head (lift the front cover or look under the unit). The two serials differ; decode the outdoor unit for the system age.

- building-center lists 10 styles; most are Daikin-McQuay (Daikin Applied) commercial formats, referenced to McQuay replacement-parts manuals. Japan/Thailand-built ductless & VRV serials (e.g. 7-digit A000129) do NOT encode the date; read the MFG. DATE printed on the plate (style 1).
