Year
depends on serial length (official Haier US page): 8-digit = GE letter code (1st letter month, 2nd letter year: G=2016 H=2017 L=2018 M=2019 R=2020 S=2021); 10- or 11-digit = year digits 2-3, month digits 4-5; 11-digit wine cooler = year digits 1-2, month digits 3-4; 18-20 digit = year at position 14 (9=2009 A=2010 B=2011 C=2012 D=2013 E=2014 F=2015 G=2016 H=2017 J=2018), month at position 15 (1-9 = Jan-Sep, a=Oct b=Nov c=Dec), day at position 16 (1-9 = 1-9, A=10 B=11 C=12 D=13 E=14 F=15 G=16 H=17 J=18 K=19 L=20 M=21 N=22 P=23 Q=24 R=25 S=26 T=27 U=28 V=29 W=30 X=31)

Documented but not evaluated by the decoder: no pattern (no date encoded, or format unknown).
Trap: Four length-dependent formats on one official page and NO example serials, so pattern/example are null; the four sub-rules can be written once real serials are collected: (a) ^[ADFGHLMRSTVZ][GHLMRS]\d{6}$ (8-digit, GE-style), (b) ^\d(\d{2})(0[1-9]|1[0-2])\d{5,6}$ (10/11-digit), (c) ^(\d{2})(0[1-9]|1[0-2])\d{7}$ (11-digit wine cooler), (d) 18-20 chars with date at chars 14-16. Haier's US appliance business is GE Appliances (Haier bought GEA in 2016) which is why post-2016 8-digit serials use GE letters; the pre-2016 China-built 10/11/20-digit serials are different. The official page returns 403 to curl but 200 in a real browser.

Example: serial LR821547C decodes to 2020 or 2008 or 1996 or 1984 (June).

Trap: Official GE Appliances page. Year letter repeats every 12 years, so GA = April 2001 or April 2013 (GE's own example); GE says to use the print date on the owner's manual (e.g. 02-20) to pick the cycle, or contact them with model + serial. Building-center's Hotpoint page text says '1st = year, 2nd = month' - that is backwards (its GE page, GE's page and the VZ902110G plate stamped NOVEMBER 1988 all say month first). Pre-1977 codes (E=1969/1948, N=1972/1956, two-letter codes AY..DB for 1961-68, B/C/J/K for 1945-53) are in the official table but rarely matter. Worked examples: VZ902110G = Nov 1988 (building-center plate photo), ZV700153M = Dec 1975/1987/1999, LR821547C = Jun 2020, RL059433C = Aug 2018, ZR525322 = Dec 1996, LV227019H = Jun 1999 (Hotpoint), RD166115R = Aug 2002 (Hotpoint) (appliancedates).

Listed under GE Appliances in the source; Haier is named in that format's family and the corporate link is an estimate, not a checked fact.

Where the data plate is on a washing machine

Inside the lid or door rim, on the back panel, or behind the detergent drawer on front-loaders.

General guidance, not brand-specific: the owner's manual or the installer can point to the exact spot. See the data plate guide.

For scale only: the InterNACHI Standard Estimated Life Expectancy Chart for Homes lists Washing Machine at 5 to 15 years of expected service (nachi.org). That chart is a guideline, not a prediction for your unit.

Official lookup: the authority

Open the official Haier lookup takes serial number; returns warranty / registration lookup; URL verified live

This site is a reference built from published tables. The manufacturer's own lookup wins whenever the two disagree.
